Learn Spanish to earn a better salary

Today, the world is moving at a much faster pace, which makes perfect sense since the population has almost doubled in just over 40 years.  Right now the world’s population is estimated at around 6.6 billion people.  The number of people that speak Spanish natively, out of that 6.6 billion, is around 400 million, which is about 6.10% of the world’s population.

What does this mean?  Maybe that seems like a small percentage, but we're talking about the entire world, Spanish is actually ranked second (falling after Chinese) as the most spoken, native language in the world. Although Spanish falls behind English in total number of speakers (native & non-native), the use and importance of Spanish is constantly increasing.

In some of the nations top, non-Spanish speaking countries it is becoming so prevalent that it wouldn't be a surprise that some areas of these nations begin to make Spanish the co-official language.  In the U.S.A for example, 10 states show that Spanish is spoken by between 10 – 25% of the population, and in 12 more states Spanish is the language used among at least 5% of the population.

These trends and increases in the use of Spanish are causing many changes in the job market as well.  Knowledge of a second language has long been regarded as a beneficial character trait and would definitely be useful when interviewing for an open position or negotiating a raise.

Nowadays, it is becoming almost a demand in some fields.  There is a long list of careers in which knowing the Spanish language could benefit profits and productivity immensely, such as: business, advertising, transportation, information sciences, tourism, banking/finance, law enforcement, education, health and communications.

Learning Spanish can not only boost your résumé, it can change your appearance as a prospective employee in the job market in many parts of the world.
Even if you are not currently searching for a career, having the knowledge of Spanish will be able to help you in almost every profession nowadays.

The economy is no longer focused in within a single nation, it is global.  Knowing Spanish is beneficial in improving your income.  It has been said many employers only really consider a truly educated person as one knowing at least two languages.

Apart from the benefits to your salary or résumé, Argentina, Spain or another Spanish speaking country will greatly enhance your knowledge and appreciation of other people and the diverse cultures in this world.  It will open you up to a whole new array of things you'd never otherwise get a chance to experience.  It encourages cross-cultural understanding, which is something that we should all strive for today.
